VPK: Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten

Residents of the state of Florida can take advantage of the free Voluntary Pre-kindergarten (FREE VPK) education program at select childcare facilities throughout Broward County. This innovative program is designed to provide children with the best possible start for their academic careers. Precious Promise Academy is the ideal location for introducing your four or five-year-old to the joys of learning. We offer customized care to ensure that your little one receives the support he or she needs to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.

How VPK Works

Children who are four years old on September 1 of the current calendar year are eligible to enroll in FREE VPK through a participating Preschool or childcare facility. The state of Florida will pay for 540 hours of Preschool time during the school year and up to 300 hours during the summer month. The added funding provided by the FREE VPK program can make attendance at Precious Promise Academy even more affordable for parents who require full-time care for their Preschool-aged children. We offer care from 7:00am in the morning until 6:00pm in the evening to ensure the greatest convenience and peace of mind for parents in the state of Florida.

What is the School Readiness program? Tell me more.

ELC Broward offers School Readiness, a financial assistance program that helps low-income eligible families obtain affordable, high-quality child care in Broward County. Priority for school readiness program participation is given to: children whose parents are economically disadvantaged, children who have been determined to be at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, and children with special needs.

ELC Broward and our community partners work together to ensure children in Broward County can access the support and resources needed to be ready to enter school and succeed.
